This is an X-Plane 11 and X-Plane 10 scenery package for Santos Dumont. This Rio de Janeiro scenery has been created by hand specifically for FlightGear. This AFCAD is to default SBRJ of FS2004 with gate positions modified, lights etc.

I installed Rio V8 yesterday evening. It is excellent and I am duly impressed. I have not installed any of the additional texture files, bitmaps, or aircraft that were bundled because that looks somewhat more formidable. Oh, wait, I did instal the airport lighting stuff but it doesn't work and I am not sure I understand the text that came with it for configuring that lighting.
I have Ultimate Traffic and that is generating a certain amount of traffic for the area. Am I missing anything wonderful by not installing and configuring the additional files?JS. Am I missinganything wonderful by not installing and configuring theadditional files?JSThat's a matter of personal opinion of course, but I installed everything which includes some interesting Ultralite AI aircraft working in the area. The extra traffic adds a bit of realism that I like.If I remember correctly, there was nothing you needed to do with the lighting stuff - it is already in the scenery (and works properly there). It was just included in the package for those who wanted to experiment with what was then, a fairly new concept. If you install the aircraft you will note there is a Canadian Ultra lite flying about. That was done as a 'tip of the hat' to one of the scenery designers who lives in Canada. If you don't care for the 'extras', you can always remove them.
There was a hunt round for the Great Wall of China which came to mind which came to a disappointing end in the forum a little while ago, I would have liked to see included in FS9 1) Cambodia's ancient temple city Ankor Wat 2) Peru's Inca lost city of Machu Picchu 3) China's great fence too:) The Indian Taj Mahal is given some rendition in FS9. Having said this I believe that these sites are probably better left to the addon designer folk who without doubt do a much better job, guess they have the time and inclination to make them look more lifelike than MS ever could.
I have been somewhat disappointed with some of the MS efforts Mt.Rushmore comes to mind here (USA National Park - those famous past Presidents faces carved into the hillside). Ok I may be a little off the religious theme here but that kinda depends on your definition and how far back in time you want to go:) Wonder if anyone will think of a bridge with a religious theme missing from FS9 in here!:-jumpy Hey Darkman - so you did not get Wonderful Rio yet? - here's a second opportunity for you:) Dave:-jumpy.
